So I think I figured out to a degree of why I am what I am when it comes to dating (an intense cute fireball)
I was a bit of a dork in high school. I was, believe it or not, pretty introverted. I didn't date not did my friends I had crushes on guys but never had the balls to ask them out.
So what did Teen Amy do? I watched a lot of movies. What kind of movies? Relationship Propaganda I mean romantic comedies. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. It just molded me into the romantic that I am. And now I need to be more realistic than an idealist.
Men like Lloyd Dobler, lane Meyer, Donald Miller exist but they are the exception. also most films rarely show a strong woman fighting to woo a man. One exception Frankie in dream for an insomniac.
Most romcoms give women this false sense of hope that chilvary and romance aren't dead, it happens all the time. - they aren't actually but in a world where we are glued to our phones and we are plugged into the matrix.
The art of mixed tapes is dead. In the digital age. Cause who wants a mixed mp3 disc.
Things I've never had: guys bringing you flowers on an early date. Guys picking you up and taking you out.
Big thing I've noticed lately and please confirm or deny this. The modern guy never invites you to his place. What's up with that?
Dating is something I don't wish on anyone. So if you have that girl or guy that you've been with for forever you hold on tight to them and never let go. Never stop proving your love.
There is truth in Rob Gordon but it's only a partial truth we need the heartache as much as the love. It puts us on the right path to finding our other half. You learn and grow from every breakup.
If you haven't seen it Watch Love and Sex and Dream for an Insomniac
I share the "things never had".
